Jenelle La Chuisa focuses her practice on international commercial litigation and arbitration. She has extensive experience representing multi-national companies in a variety of commercial contract disputes, including actions arising out of commercial loan, purchase and sale, and distribution agreements. Her recent arbitration experience includes the representation of an international corporation involved in arbitration proceedings for breach of agreements to provide services throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Recognized as a "Future Star" in Benchmark Litigation 2009, La Chuisa frequently oversees the strategy of a case including shareholder and joint venture disputes with local counsel in Latin America.
Her years of service to Lawyers for Children America, Inc. and work with abused and neglected children in Miami-Dade County, earned her the John Edward Smith Award for Child Advocacy in recognition of her commitment to pro bono contributions.
La Chuisa is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida; and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. She is a member of the Dade County Bar Association; the Appellate Practice Section, the Young Lawyers Division, and the International Litigation and Arbitration Committee of the International Law Section of the Florida Bar; as well as the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.
As a St. Thomas University School of Law cum laude graduate, she served as Senior Articles Editor on the Law Review. While a law student, she tried asylum cases as a Certified Legal Intern at the Law School's Immigration Clinic, worked as a Contracts Law tutor, and was a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow, interning at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center.
Originally from Rochester, New York, La Chuisa obtained her B.A. in Spanish with an English minor from the University of Rochester with honors. As an undergraduate, she studied and traveled throughout Europe. While living in Spain, La Chuisa served as a translator for a major European ecological group.
